On Saturday 26th November, 2016 TANGWAT YOUTH ASSOCIATION held its second edition of public lecture at the VIP hall of Murtala Mohamed Square Kaduna. Mr Samuel Aruwan the Special assistant to Kaduna State Governor on media and publicity attended, chatting the way forward for the development of Southern Kaduna with other discussants in person of Dr J.E Gyong, Mrs Angela B Gugong, Ms Asama’ Alex and others.

THE AIM OF THE LECTURE: To empower the youth to promote development in
Major points; The speakers stated the objectives of empowerment as;
– laying a solid foundation for sustainable poverty eradication
-Engaging in wealth creation
-Seek value re-orientation.
REASONS WHY THE YOUTH MUST BE EMPOWERED
-for improved living conditions and general wellbeing.
-For higher productivity
-independent lives or self-reliance.
-Movement from oppression to opportunities.
-financial independence and autonomy.
-Facilitating enabling environment through provision of infrastructure
-Promoting private enterprise
-Establishing friendly socio-economic and political policies
-Guarantee for security to ensure safety of lives and properties
-Risk taking etc
-Youth preference for wage employment
-Too much dependence on government and significant others
-poor human capital development and unskilled Labour force
-Poor policies implementation
-Lack of continuity in governance etc
EMPOWERMENT DIFFICULTIES IN SOUTHERN KADUNA
-problem of procrastination
-Wrong perception about the essence of education and the purpose of
going to school
-Foolish pride, ignorance and misconception
-loss of cultural value
-Insecurity and constant violence etc.
