Why one of our student committed suicide – UNILORIN Management

On Friday, the management of the University of Ilorin made it known that an investigation carried out by the institution revealed that one of its student, late Mr. Adigun Emmanuel, committed suicide due to drug addiction.

Mr Kunle Akogun, who is the Director of corporate affairs of the university, made this known via a statement which was made available to our source in Ilorin.

Mr Akogun said that the student from the the Faculty of Agriculture “resorted to an unreasonable action to ventilate his frustration over his failure in his final year project.”

“Mr. Adigun Emmanuel Adewale, from the Faculty of Agriculture, committed suicide last Thursday November 29, 2018,” he stated.

The student began to use drugs to tackle the prolonged depression he suffered as a result of personal challenges he could not bear, the director stated.

“Some of his friends, made it known that the obviously depressed student had unsuccessfully attempted suicide three times, after publicly expressed profound regrets on many occasions,” he said.
