Unpaid Salaries: Kogi workers beg on the streets to feed their families – NLC

The Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, lamented on Thursday a situation where workers in the Kogi State Civil Service are currently begging to feed their families because of the non-payment of their monthly salaries.

Comrade Onuh Edoka, who is the Kogi State chairman of the Congress, made this known during the 7th quadrennial delegates’ conference held in Lokoja, stated that the workers are been owed between seven to 30 months salary arrears by the state government.

He made an appeal to the state government to quickly do something to solve the negative trend, which he said has made it impossible for them to meet their obligations to their dependents.

The chairman also regretted that these workers are still being owed leave bonuses, while promotion carried out by the government were not being cash backed as such promotions only existed on papers.

“Mr. Edoka therefore urged the Federal Government to help release the balance of N30.8 billion bailout fund to enable the government to defray the salary arrears owed workers in the state.
