Supplementary Election: Reports of Killings and Protest untrue – Kano Govt.

Yesterday, the government of Kano State debunks reports that were made on killing carried out during the March 23 re-run governorship election in the state.

The government went on to challenge all those who made those claims to come forward with proof of such killings.

Mohammed Garba, who is the State Commissioner of Information, threw the challenge while he was addressing a news conference in Kano.

“I would like to throw a challenge to anyone with any proof of killings during the just concluded election to come and give the names of those killed.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made claims that two persons were murdered in Nasarawa Local Government Area but we went to the area and Nasarawa Hospital as well, but there was no report of any death.

“So if there is anyone at all who witnessed the killing of somebody in Nasarawa LGA or anywhere at all, let them come forward and state it,” Mr Garba stated.

He also denied reports that there was protest after the election results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the State Commissioner of Information, there were lots of made-up stories during the election which was the craft of those he described as desperate members of the opposition who wanted to discredit the election at all costs.

The commissioner made it known that the supplementary election was peaceful everywhere except two incidents which were quickly addressed by the security agents in the affected areas.
