It was a sad day at the Government Science Secondary School, Mayne Avenue in Calabar South LGA of Cross River State, when a heavy rain swept away an 11 year-old student named Victor Charles in Calabar.

The unfortunate incident took place on Wednesday when the victim was swept into a flooded water channel at Mayne Avenue by Atamunu/Atakpa in Calabar.

The deceased was said to be in JSS2 class.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Anthony Akpan, made it known that the incident occurred at about 2: 00pm when heavy rain swept the deceased into the big gutter at Mayne Avenue by Atakpa Street and his body has not yet been found since then,” he said.

The father of the 11 year old who preferred not to have his name made publicly stated that his son has not yet been found.

“Some of my brothers and I has been looking for his body in the big gutter all day but as we speak his body has not been discovered.

“I have set out another search team at the point of evacuation of the channel close to CRUTECH and adjourning community but nothing has found yet because the rain started again this evening.

“I wish to take out this time to plead with the general public that anybody who finds him should please report immediately to the school so he can be given a proper burial because I cannot be at rest until I find my son,” the father stated.
