Residents run for safety as bomb destroys Kaduna church

The Assemblies of God Church located at Kabrasha village in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State was destroyed during a bomb attack in the community on Thursday. Some of the residents who ran away to nearby communities alleged that a helicopter dropped the bomb at Kabrasha.

The President of the Gbagyi Development Association (GDA), Peter Aboki, stated to journalists on Friday that before the bomb explosion, that before the bomb explosion, the villagers were complaining about a helicopter hovering around the community and dropping some things in the bush.

He made it known that some hours after the bomb exploded, some armed men were seen in the community. He said that some of the armed men walked on foot while others moved around with motorbikes. The residents of the community fled for the fear of the unknown.

“The helicopter sighted around the area dropping some things, we aren’t sure what they’ve been dropping off but a bomb was dropped and a church, Assembly of God church was destroyed including a nearby building,” he stated.

“There was no casualty because as at the time the incident happened, many villagers were in their farms. Some hours after the explosion, a group of people about 100 of them were seen carrying guns. Some were trekking while others rode on motorcycles.”

He added: “One of them was carrying a flag which is not a Nigerian flag, one other person was making some incantations in Arabic. We suspect that this flag could be an insurgents flag. For somebody to be carrying a flag other than the Nigeria flag means something.

“People have fled the village including the village head who told me that he is taking refugme that he is taking refuge in Gwagwada village. The question is who was in the helicopter dropping bomb? Was it a mistake by security agencies that are after terrorists or what?

“We are very worried, and not sure if it was the security agencies chasing criminals that mistakenly dropped a bomb on the community. If this is true, then the security agencies should come and address the community so that their minds can be at rest.”

Mohammed Jalige, who is the spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, did not respond to telephone calls and a text message.
