Police Arrest Militant Planning To Bomb Lagos Third Mainland Bridge
The Nigeria Police has arrested a suspected member of a militant group that is planning to bomb the famous Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest commercial city.
Recovered from him by the police were two AK 47 Rifles, two cartons of Explosives and Detonators.
According to the police, the arrest came after there was an intelligence information on the activities of some militants in Lagos and Ogun area, who have been putting together some explosives to bomb the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
Jimoh Moshood, who is an official of the Police Public Relation office, made a confirmation of the arrest and also the seizure of the explosives making devices.
He also made it known that on Wednesday, a strong member of the group who specializes in explosives, Abiodun Amos, 43, also referred to as Senti, was arrested.
Abiodun is from Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, the police stated.
Abiodun was caught at the bank of Majidun River in Ikorodu area of Lagos with two AK47 rifles which were hidden in a bag he brought from their hideout in the Creek.
The police also revealed that he has mentioned other gang members involved.
The police further made it clear that efforts were on-going to arrest the remaining gang members.
