Please Release The Body Of Our Son To Us For Proper Burial – Maj Taofiki Retired Appeals To Army Authority ,Government

The family a young man who was slain in a controversial manner along Kaduna-Abuja highway has for the second time in 2 weeks , made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government , Kaduna State Government and relevant authorities including the Nigeria  Army (NA),  to help facilitate the release of the corpse of their slain son for proper burial in accordance to Islamic rites

The body  Akilu Tafoki, who was allegedly gunned down by soldiers from 1Division Garrison on stop and search operation along the Kaduna – Abuja Expressway three weeks ago has not yet been found  according to the spokesman of the family ,Major Mohammed Isa Taofiki  (Ret), and it is causing serious consternation in the family.
Narrating the what actually  led to the death of Akilu, Major Tafoki, said his late nephew was a farmer and during dry season he migrated to Abuja as commercial motorcycle rider .
According to him, they were on their way to Abuja in the company of four motorcycles, each carrying a passenger. And as they approach Sabon Gaya along the Abuja Expressway, they ran into a roadblock mounted by soldiers who were later identified as personnel of 1Division Garrison.
Major Tafoki further explained that without any form of  the soldiers opened fire on the cyclists, and in the process late Akilu who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles was hit and he fell down.
“I was informed that my late nephew was taken to a filing station and left in his pool of blood where he gave up the ghost.
“Immediately I received the message, I drove down to the roadblock, but the soldiers refused to say a word even after I identified myself as a retired Major.
“This made  me to drive down to the 1 Division Garrison in Kaduna to lay a complain where a senior officer told me to come back the next day with an eyewitness, with a promise that the soldiers on roadblock on the said day would be recalled back to the office for investigation
“The second day, the soldiers were paraded amidst other colleagues and my witness was able to identified three of them. They were later moved away for questioning .
“Surprisingly the senior military officer said my nephew was not killed by any of his men and the corpse is not with them. Even though they accepted earlier on that his body was deposited at the New Wuse General Hospital,” he narrated.
The former Army officer then passionately pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), General Tukur Buratai to intervene in the matter and ensure that the corpse is released to the family for a befitting burial.
The Army has however denied the claims by Tafoki that it killed Akilu Tafoki.

Passionate Appeal to the Executive Government Kaduna StateMal1am Nasiru Elrufai, The chief of An-ny Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai and the General officer commanding (GOC) I Division Nigerian Army (NA) Kaduna Major
General Muhammad.
This is to strongly request them to please come to the aid of the family and relation of the assassinated young man named Mohammed Akilu Isah by the soldiers of  Division Garrison Kaduna at Sabon Gayan on 06 January 2019. on Sunday the 6’ of January 2019 at
about 3pm the young men were on their way to Suleja for AchabalOkada business which is their normal routine particularly during the dry season of each year.
They were eight (8) riding on four (4) motorcycles 2 on each motorcycle. At sabon Gayan they came into a check point made and manned by a group of soldiers of I Division garrison Kaduna and commanded by one Capt. Obi.
The soldiers open fire on them, thereby killing one of them by name Mohammed Akilu Isah Tafoki Faskari LGA of Katsina state. On receiving the report which was about 4:30pm same date 06 January 2019. I requested to know the where about of the killed who happened to be my nephew i.e. the son of my elder brother. His elder brother told me the soldiers said they have carried him to Sabon wuse general hospital.
I directed one sabiu among them to follow up to the sabon wuse hospital to confirm whether the man shot was dead or alive, on reaching the hospital he was told that the hospital did not receive any corps, wounded or sick person throughout the day. He called me at about 9:45pm and informed me.
The following day 07 January 2019 i went to the soldier camp which is directly opposite the place they set the road block to ask for the man they shot. they said they will not talk, but they will call their officer commanding for me they call him and I speak with him during which he told me his name as captain Obi and directed me to go to Kakaw and meet him there I refused and directed him to come to the camp at sabon gayan and meet me.
on arrival he collected my phone number and asked me to leave saying that he will investigate and get back to me. I refused to leave, instead I directed him to investigate and tell me or show me the young man dead or alive. It was that time that he told me that the soldiers said they did not fire, and I said that is not true
since somebody in person of Mohammed Akilu Isah Tafòki was shot and there is a bullet wound on one of the motocycle. He then said, the I Division garrison commander Kaduna said he want speak with me. while on the phone the garrison commander requested all of us to come to the garrison headquarters to meet him.
On reaching his office the garrison commander said the case was not reported to him and therefore directed all of us to the I Division military police commander at I Division headquarters, for the military police commander to investigate, the military police commander named colonel AOD Okoro directed capt. Obi to go to sabon gayan to bring all the soldiers involved, when the soldiers arrived, the military police commander colonel AOD Okoro conducted an identification parade during which four (4) of the soldiers where physically identified by Abdullah Mikailu, the young man on the same motorcycle with my
nephew Mohammed Akilu Isah Tafoki who was shot and killed by the soldiers.
However, after questioning the soldiers. col. Okoro asked me and my brothers to leave. After about one (1) hour, we were called into the office and we were told that the soldiers said “they did not fire”.
Therefore we should go and use the qur’an since We are Muslim to get whoever shot and killed our brother.
We then went back to the I Division garrison commander at about 8:3Opm. While there the I Division garrison commander said how is it possible that the other man on the machine i.e Abdullahi Mikailu did not sustain injuries when, the fell down after the shooting. it was then I realized that there was a conspiracy to cover the gruesome murder of this young harmless nephew of mine in person of Mohammed Akilu Isah Tafoki at this point I requested the commander, pray and begged that the dead body of the slain young man should be given to us or even direct us to where ever they dumped it to enable us recover it and buried him as required by islam. But until today they intentionally refused.
I am
therefore using this opportunity and medium to request his Excellency the executive government of Kaduna state Mallarn Nasiru Elrufai and the chief of Army staff General T.Y Buratai to please use their good offices to compel the GOC T Division Nigerian Army (NA) Kaduna to please direct the I Division garrison commander to give us the dead body of our son.
