Northern Governors gathered in Kaduna to Fight Security Issues
A total of 19 Northern Governors gathered in Kaduna to Fight Security Issues on Monday morning, which is the first meeting of group in the current year.
Kashim Shettima, who is the Governor of Borno state, and also the chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, is expected to preside over the meeting.
The meeting was held at the Kaduna State government house, and would also be involving elders and traditional rulers from the northern states who would be giving a briefing on the security situation across the northern states.
The keynote address will be delivered by Maitama Sule, an Elder statesman, on the urgent need and importance for diversification on the economy of the northern state against the backdrop of the economic recession.
Since July 2009, the northern states have been faced with strong challenges as regards to security issues.
The meeting is expected to look for ways to tackle the issue and further bring together the norther region of the country.
On Saturday, another attack was carried out by some unknown gunmen in Zakan Village located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where one person was killed and five other people were injured.
