Northern Governors converge in Kaduna over Security Issues

All Northern Governors are meeting in Kaduna right now over the unending issue of kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara States and the Northeastern parts of the country.

Apart from the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, other governors who have arrived the meeting venue are those of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, Katsina State’s Aminu Masari, Plateau State’s Simon Lalong, Benue State Deputy Governor, Benson Abonu.

As at when this report was filed, some other governors haven’t yet arrived the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, venue of the meeting.

It is expected that the governors during the meeting will deliberate on the prevailing and disturbing insecurity in the region, the high rate the number of out-of-school children, agriculture and so on.

“From what it seems, a new chairman of the Forum may likely emerge today since the current chairman is leaving for the Senate in the 9th National Assembly,” a source stated.
