NLC, TUC Calls Off Strike In Niger State.
The Niger State chapter of NLC and TUC has on Saturday ended the strike action after an intervention from Ahmed Marafa, who is the speaker of the State House of Assembly.
The strike was embarked upon on Monday by the labor unions due to the deduction of workers salaries.
During a meeting, Mr Ahmed Marafa obtained and agreement the unions and the state government so as to bring down the hard times the strike action has caused and experienced by the people of the state.
“An important step has been taken and an agreement has been made, after so many deliberations between the two parties,” he said.
Idris Ndako, who is the NLC Chairman, made it known that labor will be ending the strike only when some conditions that have been agreed by the government have been met.
“In the final agreement, it was agreed upon that all the state workers will be given their salaries all in full,” he said.
“The sum of N1.35 Billion will be made available for the next three months by the state government, which starts from this month of July.”
“Staff screenings will be embarked upon so as to determine the payment of workers.
