Nigerian Airforce kill 12 bandits in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stated that its Operation DIRAN MIKIYA Air Task Force (ATF) in collaboration with troops of the 271 Detachment have killed 12 bandits in Kamuku forest, Birnin Gwari, Kaduna.

According to the Nigerian Airforce, a total of 15 kidnapped victims were also freed.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ibikunle Daramola, made this known via a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Recently, the Nigerian Airforce inaugurated a 271 detachment in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, as part of efforts to fight the ongoing security challenges in the country.

Mr. Daramola made it known that the establishment of the 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) detachments in Birnin Gwari was yielding steady and positive dividends.

According to him, the air strike that were carried out resulted in the neutralisation of 12 bandits and release of 15 kidnapped victims.

“Intelligence reports showed that the bandits were camping within the Kamuku Forest area, straddling both Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State and Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.

“The strike caused bandits to leave their location in confusion thereby, enabling the kidnapped victims to escape, with some finding their way to Nacibi, and others to Gobirawa and Dogon Muazu in Birnin Gwari LGA,’’ he stated.

The spokesman promised Nigerians that the Nigerian Airforce would keep on working with other agencies to sustain its operations to flush bandits out of the North-west.
