NECO Releases 2016 Results with High Rate of Flying Colors.
The 2016 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination results has been released by the National Examination Council, NECO.
A new exam record has been set by the result which was released, with a pass level of 88.51 percent.
While the result was being announced on Friday at the headquarters of NECO located in Minna, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, who is the Registrar of the Council, stated that 88.51% of the candidates who sat for the examination got not less than five credits, which includes Mathematics and English Language.
He further explained that 905,011 (84.54 per cent) of the candidates had 5 credits and above in English Language while the other 812,846 (80.16 percent) had 5 credits and above in Mathematics.
Prof. Charles also noted that the analysis which was made shows that the examination written in 2015 and 2016 have a 1% improvement in the performance of candidates in 2016 (88.51%) as compared with 2015 (87.51%).
Katsina State was said to have recorded the least with 72.59 percent, while Ekiti State recorded the highest with a percentage of 96.48.
Prof Charlse made it known that a total of 1,022,474 out of 1,027,016 candidates who registered sat for the examinations.
It was also stated by the registrar that not less than 43,905 cases of malpractice was recorded, and 194 schools were involved in mass cheating, saying that the results of the candidates who were involved have been cancelled.
