Lockdown: Kaduna Govt. fix new days for free movement

The Government of Kaduna State has announced a change in the two-day window for free movement to Wednesday and Thursday.

Before the recent change, all residents were allowed to move to purchase essentials like foodstuffs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

A statement that was issued by Hafiz Bayero, who is the Managing Director, Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company, made it clear that no market would open next Saturday.

Following the decision made by the government, the Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company has announced that all necessary arrangements would be made for the orderly and safe conduct of trading activities at all the designated temporary neighborhood markets.

“All Traders and Customers entering the markets on Wednesday and Thursday are all advised and expected to wear face masks, observe physical distancing and abide by the public health protocols on both days,” he stated.

Mr Bayero also warned traders who have turned the streets close to the main market into illegal shops to desist from the act.

He also stated that the temporary markets would be allowed to operate from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for two days.

The managing director further urged traders and customers to respect KMDMC guidelines of putting on face masks and submitting to temperature checks before entering the markets.
