LEADERSHIP CRISIS: Police Surrounds Sultan Bello Mosque Angwan Sarki, to Prevent Crisis between Muslim Groups.

A disagreement as to who will emerge as the Imam of the Sultan Bello Mosque, which is one of the most prestigious mosque in the Northern part of the country on was shaken on Friday, which resulting to the closing down of the mosque by security personnel and the compulsory Juma’at prayers was not carried out.
The crisis surfaced during the last Eid kabir that was celebrated on the 22nd of September, 2016 when a crisis broke out as to who would lead the Eid prayers.
Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, who is the Secretary-General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), was later chosen as the Imam of Sultan Bello prayer ground, Kaduna on 13th October 2016 by the decision of His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, HRH Emir of Zazzau and some other Muslim leadership.
It was gathered that his appointment came with some mixed feelings at the mosque after the incident that occured on Eid day, 12th September, 2016, which resulted to the division in the Eid prayer and also the removal of Sheikh Balele Waliý, after which the Deputy Imam had been taking care of the affairs of the mosque.
As early as 8 am on Friday 28th, October 2016,, there were signs of problems, when there a truck filled with armed policemen, who placed themselves around the mosque, resulted to the division that disrupted Juma’at prayers at the mosque yesterday, the police quickly came in to ensure there was no break down of law and order.
While talking to newsmen after the incident, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, who is the Secretary-General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), who is also was appointed Imam alleged that the crisis that erupted at the mosque was caused by the order given to the followers of Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi.
According to the Imam, the cleric on his social media page ordered his followers to ensure that there’s no peaceful conduct of the Juma’at prayers the next day.
However, he made a call on the government of the state to help out in the matter by checking his excesses and assured that the leadership will bring nothing but peace.
