Kaduna State Board refunds N148m to intending Pilgrims

Over N148 million has been refunded to about 3,000 intending pilgrims by the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board due to the downward review of Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for 2019.

Malam Yunusa Abdullahi, who the Board’s Spokesman, stated this via a statement on Monday in Kaduna.

He made it clear that those got a refund were those who had completed payment of their Hajj fare before it was reviewed by NAHCON.

Abdullahi gave explanations that the pilgrims were refunded N51, 170.50k after the downward review of the fare to N1, 498,126.50 from N1, 549,297.09.

“On the 22nd of June, NAHCON announced that the downward review of Hajj fare for all intending pilgrims in the country and ordered states to refund the excess to affected pilgrims,’’ he stated in a statement.

Abdullahi stated that 3,200 intending pilgrims had been registered by the board and urged others who had the intention to go on this year’s Hajj to do so before the closure of registration on July 15.

Journalists reported that a total of 6,636 seats were allocated to Kaduna State for this year’s Hajj.
