Kaduna Govt, World Bank to sponsor 145,000 out-of-school children

The Government of Kaduna State and the World Bank have finalized plans to send back not less than 145,000 out-of-school children and almajiris to school across the state by September.

Nasiru Umar, who’s the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) chairman, made this known at a workshop in Kaduna on how to strategize and return the children to schools.

Mr. Umar told our Source that out of the 727,000 out-of-school children on ground, plans were currently underway to return 145,000 to primary one, two and three by the month of September, through the year 2020.

Mr Umar also explained that among the children that are to be enrolled were 14,738 Almajiris and 70,167 girls expected to be engaged in 480 schools and 2,420 teachers.

He complained bitterly about the high rate of out-of-school children in the state, adding that the programme would start with 12 LGAs.

Leaders at all levels, both religious and traditional to assist the state in achieving this dream.
