Kaduna Government Turns Youths Against Shi’a Members, Set Ablaze Leader’s House.
On Wednesday, some angered youth in Tudun Wada, Kaduna State burnt the home of Mukhtar Sahabi, who is the leader of the Shi’a Islamic members, located at Zango Road.
An eyewitness who was at the scene of the incident made a confirmation to our source.
The youth are also believed to be living within the area, and they attacked some members of the Shiite group who were residing in the house.
“I wondered what was happening this morning when I saw so many youth in hundreds burning down the house,” the witness stated. “All the youth had gone before the security operatives arrived.”
The entire area has been taken over by security agencies.
This attack is coming barely a day after there was a standoff between members of the group and soldiers, and last week were outlawed by the Kaduna State Government.
Earlier on Tuesday, some worshipers had come together to mark the historical events with the Islamic month of Muharram that are also recognised with the Shia calendar.
Later in that same gathering, armed troops came and have the whole place surrounded.
The activities of the military within the area on Tuesday brought to mind the massacre that took place December 2016, where hundreds of supporters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria were killed and also the arrest of its leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
This is more like a score between the Kaduna State Governor and the group. Today’s action looks like those youths in their hundreds were ordered by someone to destroy the house belonging to the shia members in a plot for them to retaliate, so that it’ll look like it was a good thing to declare them an “unlawful society.”
Up till date, Mr. Zakzaky still remains in government custody.
A resident living in the area stated that people living in Zango Community have always complained bitterly about the activities of the group at Mr. Sahabi’s house.
