KADUNA: Bandits kills 17 vigilantes in Birnin Gwari village

The police command in Kaduna has made it known that not less than 17 vigilantes have been murdered by some armed bandits in in Jan Ruwa Village in Birnin Gawri Local Government of Kaduna State.

DSP Yakubu Sabo, who is the Command’s Public Relations Officer, made a confirmation of the incident to our source in Kaduna.

DSP Sabo opened up that the police got an information on the 12th of March at about 11:45am that some armed bandits made their way into Jan Ruwa Village of Birnin Gawri LGA and rustled many cows.

He also stated that a team of vigilante group of the village who were returning from a function in Zamfara State, got the information, regrouped and pursued the criminals into the deep forest, engaged the bandits in serious gun duel where some of the vigilante men lost their lives.

A team which comprises of police mobile force, conventional police and vigilante have so far been mobilised to the area for search and rescue mission.

In the process of the rescue mission, 15 dead bodies of the vigilante men were recovered, and additional two bodies were later discovered, making it a total number of 17 vigilante men.

Malam Ahmad Abdurrahaman, who is the Commissioner of Police, condemned the act of killing and made a promise to fish out all those who are responsible for the attack.
