KADUNA: 7 newly born babies delivered at Kajuru IDPs camp

Mr Alipiri Ado, who is the Chairman of Mararaban Kajuru IDPs Camp, told our source in Maraban Kajuru that one of the women gave birth to triplets while another was delivered of twins.

Two other women gave birth to one child each, and across six camps there are about 100 pregnant women with over 2,000 under-five children, he said.

It was reported by our source that there were about 300 children under five years and more than 150 women in the camp.

The Internally Displaced Persons, which includes the 300 children, were occupying a two-bedroom apartment with only two mobile toilets with no water facility, exposing them to diseases due to poor hygiene.

Mr Ado who made confirmation on the unavailability of water supply in the camp, stated that there was a dry well in the camp, but the only source of water is from neighboring houses.

“We seriously need a source of water because we are not sure for how long the neighbors here would allow the IDPs use the water from their houses.

“Not just about the water alone, the space way too small and sleeping materials. Only just a few number of persons sleeps on the available mattresses while the majority sleep on bare floor, including the children,” he added.

There is every need for more assistance to be rendered for these IDPs.
