Insecurity: Police kill 250 terrorists in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced an operation that led to the killing of 250 alleged terrorists in Kaduna State.

The operation came on Wednesday morning in Kuduru woodlands, in the besieged Birnin Gwari area, which lasted for several hours, the chief police spokesperson Frank Mba said in a statement.

The Spokesman stated that the 250 people killed during the operation were high profiled members of the outlawed Ansaru terrorist group. The group which is responsible for terrorising citizens through relentless kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across central Nigeria.

Mr Mba made it known via a telephone conversation to our source that no personnel was killed during the operation.

Mr Mba said repeatedly. “No security force in Nigeria has attended what we did. It was a very thorough and unprecedented operation.”

He further stated that the police have planned other raid across the country.

For a long time, Kurudu forest has been housing criminal gangs, with security agencies long suspecting that most of the deadly attacks in Birnin Gwari axis were carried out by elements that used the forest as a hideout.

The Operation was successfully carried out by a combined effort of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Forces, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Two officers manning a police helicopter that was used in the operation were injured, but had been receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
