I Have no Idea When Recession will End – Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun.
Mrs Kemi Adeosun, who is the nation’s Minister of Finance, has stated that she doesn’t know exactly when the Nigeria economic recession will come to an end.
The minister is saying this via a statement just almost one week after the governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele made it known that the nation would stop experiencing recession before December.
Godwin said: “We are lost already, and the only direction is try and find the possible way out and the government is trying all its best to make sure that there is a way out of all this. I am very sure due to the actions that has being carried out by the monetary and fiscal authorities, the result of the last quarter will make it clear that we are moving out of recession.
“The baddest part is gone. The economy of Nigeria is on its way to recovery and growth.”
The minister said that so far so good, the efforts that is been taking by the government to strengthen the economy are starting to yield good results.
While addressing newsmen in the Country’s capital Abuja during the weekend, Adeosun said, “I really don’t want to start guessing when the country will get out of recession. Let me say to you that they way we can get out of recession is getting into growth. And we are doing that through the stimulus we are providing.
“It might even take longer than we expected, but we will surely overcome it. Some positive signs are already there for us to see in the areas of Agriculture and solid minerals alongside other sectors with what we are trying to do. I am so sure we will overcome recession soon.”
The minister also made it known that even though we are experiencing tough times, so many investors are still interested in coming to Nigeria.
