Guber Election: Kaduna PDP urges INEC to tackle irregularities recorded during Presidential Election

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna State chapter, has made a call on the Independent National Electoral Commossion, INEC, to tackle the issues of alleged irregularities in the last general elections.

Felix Hassan Hyat, who is the State Chairman of the party, stated during a press briefing in Kaduna, that there were irregularities in the processes of the last elections that needs to be taken a close look at in fairness to all parties that participated in the last elections.

The Chairman said some of the irregularities includes the change of Ad-hoc Staff who were trained at various categories and levels, lack of insistence on use of Card Readers in some polling units as well as poor, insufficient and late arrival of materials to some polling units.

He stated: “With the metropolis of Kaduna, materials did not arrive many polling units till after 12noon. Some of those places are Narayi, Maraban Rido, Barnawa, Kakuri, Gonin-Gora, etc. These places are known to be strongholds of the PDP.”

Hyat also made it known that the recruitment of returning officers was also done in total/complete secrecy to opposition parties but with input from APC/Government.

“Even when it was carried out in secret, the engage University lecturers also remained a secret to other parties until at the point of assignment,” he said.

He urged INEC to be transparent, just and fair to all concerned parties as an unbiased umpire that it is supposed to be to ensure credible elections come 9th March, 2019.”
