Four killed in fresh attack in Southern Kaduna village

It has been stated by the Kaduna State government that it is saddened by the latest attack which was carried out on Unguwan Mailafiya community, that led to the death of four people and about eight others injured.

The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, made this known while newsmen were being briefed in Kaduna on Monday, Christmas Day.

He also stated that the military authorities notified the state government of the attack on the community which occurred late Sunday night following an attack at Nimdem on the Saturday night Dec. 23

According to him, “The state government has been working with security agencies to fortify the general area and enhance security in the area.”

He reassured citizens of their safety, saying the Commander of Operation ‘Safe Haven’, has temporarily moved to Kafanchan to coordinate the operation,

“Negative elements must not be allowed to undo all the hard work done to restore peace and security,” he said adding that “government commiserates with the victims and their families”.

The special Adviser further advised people in the state to make sure they report any threat to peace, law and order to the officials of Operation Safe Haven, the special security task force in the area on the following mobile phone numbers for necessary action.

He said the state government had commended the effort of community leaders in the wake of the Nimdem attacks and urged continued engagements to prevent escalation.

”The government is assured that the security agencies will continue to pursue the criminal elements who perpetrated this act and their sponsors,” he added.
