Foundation urges FG to construct more Borstal Centers to tackle illegal Torturing Rehabilitation Center

The National president “foundation for the protection of women and children’s  in Nigeria “ Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani has called on all 36 states governors  and federal government of Nigeria to construct more juvenile remand centre across the country ,in other to curtail the activities of illegal torturing Centre that are violating right of youth in various detention places.

Ramatu makes the called in an interview on the current close-down of all illegal traditional rehabilitation centres across the north.

saying that it is a welcome development, but there is need for government to build more borstal training institutes, so as to change the lives of youth for better.

According to her, building more juvenile remand centre by states and federal govt will help to curtail the existence of traditional rehabilitation centre and other illegal places were hundreds of youth were keep for rehabilitation.

Ramatu says, juvenile remand centre are places where juvenile offenders are remanded and given both educational and vocational training to rehabilitate and reform them before reintegrating them back into the society.

“we appreciate the effort of Kaduna state government, katsina and other northern state for rescuing hundreds of inmates, while also commending the effort of Nigerian police force”

“But we want government to build more borstal training institutes for these children, so as to transformed the troublesome youth that are disturbing the society,”

“Don’t blame the youth that you saw in all the close down traditional rehabilitation centre in the north, it is the failure of their parents to take care of them, but they fail”.

“God will surely ask every parent how he takes care of his family”

“we must join hand toward supporting government making life better for our youth”.

Ramatu who is also specialist in conflict prevention in Africa says, there is need for wealthy individuals, corporate organization, and volunteer’s individual to equally support government with necessary equipment so as to empowered all the inmate with necessary basic skilled.

Adding also that, there is need for volunteers psychiatric, psychologist and medical doctors to be helping inmate through donating free services to the centres.

While calling on religious clerics to always help in preaching to parents on the importance of taking care of their children.

Furthermore, she stressed the importance of helping mentally challenged person and drug addict in the communities through volunteer NGOs and CSOs with religious scholars on the danger of stigmatising them or showing them any differences.

She then appealed to all drugs enforcement agencies Like NDLEA and other volunteers NGOs on Drugs abuse to equally double more effort in the fight against drugs abuse in the communities

Ramatu calls for tougher punishment for drugs dealers.

Communities should also help to checkmate the activities of drugs vendors in the areas.
