Fintiri Beats Governor Bindow Of APC To Clinch Adamawa Governorship Ticket
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umar Finitiri has clinched the governorship ticket of Adamawa state in the recent supplementary election conducted by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) on Thursday 28, 2019.
To emerge Governor, FIntiri garnered a total of 376,552 votes to beat Jibrilla Bindow, incumbent Governor
and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 336,386 votes, with a difference of 40,166 as margin.
Before Thursday’s supplementary election, Fintiri was leading Bindow with 367,471 votes while Bindow had 334,995, leaving a margin of 32,476 votes and
placing him in a quite comfortable lead as only 40,988 votes were cancelled by the
Independent National Electoral Commission
Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was elected a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly,(ADSHA) and was appointed Speaker. He took over from Murtala Nyako following his impeachment as Adamawa state governor in July 2014, Fintiri became Acting Governor,handing later to Bala James Ngilari after serving for three months.
