COVID-19: UK records over 36,500 deaths

On Friday, a total of 282 COVID-19 patients died in Britain, bring the total coronavirus-related death toll in the country to 36,675, Grant Shapps, who is the British Transport Secretary, stated yesterday.

The numbers include those that have died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community.

As of Saturday Morning, the number of new confirmed cases was 2,959, bringing the total confirmed cases in Britain to 257,154.

Jenny Harries, who is England’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer, stated at the Downing Street briefing that deaths are starting to come down.

“We are hoping that to come down further,’’ she said.

One of the encouraging facts is that, Britain is also maintaining a downward trend in new confirmed cases, she stated.
