Christian Man Stabbed Severally For Not Fasting in Kaduna.

A CHRISTIAN man named Francis Emmanuel, aged 41, was stabbed by some persons along Sokoto Road located in Kakuri Kaduna south on Tuesday for not carrying out the fast like Muslims.

Mr Francis, who was attacked made it clear that, he had gone to buy food from a near by restaurant during the afternoon hours, while he was eating, a total of four men surrounded him and asked him why he wasn’t fasting.

After several exchange of words, a fight broke out and one among the for boys brought out a knife and stabbed Mr Francis many times on his body.

An eyewitness made it known that a group of vigilante came to the rescue of Mr Francis, the boys were pursued but ran into the bush before they would get caught.

The victim was seriously bleeding on the ground before he was quickly rushed down to St Gerard Catholic Hospital in Kaduna, located along Kachia Road.

While speaking to newsmen, Mr Francis said that, “it all happened at about 2:30pm when I went to buy food to eat from my place of work, as I was eating, about six Hausa boys walked up to me and asked me why I wasn’t fasting. I immediately answered then that I am not a Muslim, before I could say anything else, one of them gave me a huge dirty slap. As I got up, I realized I was been surrounded by the rest and attacked with knives.”

Yesterday, the government of Kaduna State strongly condemned the attack.

The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, alongside his Deputy, Architect Barnabas Yusuf Bala, visited Mr Francis at  St. Gerald’s Catholic Hospital where he is been treated.

The governor spoke to the victim, comforted him, and make a promise that the government will do all it’s best to make sure that no one will use any religious form to violate the rights of any citizen.
