BREAKING: Kano High Court stops Assembly from investigating Ganduje over bribery allegation

The High Court in Kano State, led by Justice Ahmad Badamasi has ruled that Kano State House of Assembly has no right nor power to to investigate the $5 million bribery allegation against the state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

While the judgement was being delivered on Thursday, the judge made it known that receiving bribe from contractors is a criminal offence in section 115 and 116 of penal code, and that the House has no power to investigate criminal offences.

He made it clear that carrying out an investigation on criminal offence is the function of agencies under executive arms such as police, the EFCC and the ICPC.

The Judge, Mr Badamasi, gave an immediate order stopping the House from interview or inviting any person on the bribery allegation against Mr Ganduje just like the published by the Daily Nigerian newspaper.

During an interview, Mahmud Waziri, who is the counsel to the Kano Assembly, stated that if the House make up their mind to appeal the judgement he will pursue it, as he represents their interest.
