Birnin-Gwari: Bandits steal food-stuffs to survive, says Kaduna Emir

Alhaji Zubair Jibril-MaiGwari ll, who is the Emir of Birnin-Gwari in the Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna State, stated that bandits who have made his town unbearable for people over the years, now steal food to survive.

Birnin-Gwari at a time was known as the hub for cattle rustlers, kidnappers, armed robbers and bandits, now enjoy relative peace.

According to the Emir, the Military have succeeded in decimating the bandits after the formations of air and land operational bases in the community.

He stated this during a visit by Ali Aji-Janga, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police.

“The bandits are operating in hidden areas where there are only small markets and steal food in order to live, they are hungry, they currently don’t even have the time to kill people again.

“If the Nigeria police should re-strategize, it will only take little or no efforts to eradicate them totally, they currently don’t have much weapons like they used to, they are hidden in obvious hideouts.

While reacting, the CP gave the monarch assurances that banditry and other criminal activities would soon be in the past.

“We are assuring the people of Birnin Gwari that the cases of banditry in the area would soon be a thing of the past. We will go straight to them in the bushes and engage them,” he stated.
