Armed bandits forces inhabitants of Kaduna village to flee

Inhabitants of Kuriga village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State have been forced to flee due to armed bandits.

The villagers who are mostly women, all arrived Birnin-Gwari on Wednesday as internally displaced Parsons, IDPs, due to the issue of insecurity.

This was made known by a group, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, in a statement issued to newsmen.

The statement reads: “Kuriga Village which is located along the notorious Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Highway has been attacked by bandits nine times.

The latest attack was carried out on Tuesday night in which a total of five women and men were abducted and cattle carted away by bandits.

“We are seriously calling on all security and intelligence personnel to be on alert and help tackle this ugly situation.”

It was gathered that the bandits sent in a letter on Thursday, 18th of April, gave warning to the people of Kuriga to all leave the area or risk abduction.

When the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, was contacted, he could not respond to calls put to him on phone as at press time.
