APC rejects Benue governroship rerun result, vow to take legal action

The Benue State Chapter of the APC, has rejected the final result of the Governorship election declared on Sunday, in favor of Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party made it known in a statement in Makurdi, stating that the results did not reflect the wishes of the people.

The statement was signed by Prof. Eugene Aliegba, who is the Secretary Jime/Ode Campaign Organisation, stating that the APC would challenge the results in court.

On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Ortom winner of both the governorship and supplementary polls conducted on March 9 and March 23rd.

Governor Ortom polled a total of 434,473 votes to defeat Mr Emmanuel Jime of the APC his closest rival, who polled 345,155 votes.

According to the statement, the outcome of the poll was “totally unacceptable to the APC”.
