APC, PDP governors stealing public money for campaigns – Sowore

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the president candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has made accusations that governors serving under the APC and PDP are stealing money from their states to fund 2019 campaigns.

The candidate for the AAC also stated that the nation’s main political parties have spent beyond the stipulated amount for presidential election during primaries.

Sowore stated this during a political programme on Channels Television in which he appeared on Sunday.

“They have already spent nothing less than one billion naira in their respective primaries.

“The amount they spent in Port Harcourt alone was $25 million in a single day. All the Bureau de Change operators in Lagos and Abuja all moved down to Port Harcourt.

I am into investigative reporting before I came into this job of running for office and I can boldly say these aren’t allegations, but are proven. There are evidence of them doing it (and) they haven’t disputed them by the way.”

He called for transparency and demanded that all Nigerians should hold them accountable.

Sowore further explained that his campaign group was raising funds so as to finance his ambition of becoming president in 2019.

All candidates should come forward to explain how they’ve been able to raise funds for their campaigns, he challenged them.
