After standing in train for Two hours, Senator pushes for extra coaches on Abuja-Kaduna rail line

Senator Ali Ndume, a Borno state lawmaker, has urged the Federal Government to provide more coaches to the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.

He said the availability of more coaches will ease the suffering of passengers.

He made this known on Wednesday as he narrated his last experience on the train.

Mr. Ndume stated that he had no choice but to stand for two hours on a train as he journeyed from Abuja to Kaduna.

I was given a standing ticket because the First Class and Regular tickets were finished, alleging ticket racketeering.

In his motion which was titled ‘The Urgent need to increase the number of coaches to the Abuja Kaduna Rail Line’, he said most passengers who frequent Abuja and Kaduna have preferred the railway as a safer means of transportation.

All these are due to the Abuja-Kaduna expressway is being threatened by kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminals.

The lawmaker also made complain of the rowdiness during the purchase of ticket and also the survival of the fittest for passengers willing to buy tickets across the counter” as officials deliberately hoard and sell tickets to the anyone who pays more.

In his motion which was supported by Shehu Sani (PRP, Kaduna Central), describing the Abuja-Kaduna road as one of the most dangerous roads in Nigeria.

Unless the Federal Government urgently does something to tackle the issue of insecurity, the train would continue to be a safe haven for both the rich and poor.
