Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District and Candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the forth coming 2019 general elections has floated an Inter-Religious and Ethnic Peace Round Table.
The round table will among others identify the remote causes of continued violence in Kaduna state and how peace and religious coexistence can be entrenched in Kaduna State and other parts of Northern Nigeria.
The Senator while addressing the round table which comprises of both Christian and Muslim clerics said, the membership of the committee and function is not going to be like what used to be in time past.

” This is a round table for Muslims and Christians religious leaders meant to find solution to the religious violence that has bedeviled our state with the view to finding a lasting solution and bring peace to Kaduna State and other troubled states.
“In the last forty years, Kaduna state has been faced with series of violence that have consumed innocent lives property worth billions of naira.
” This is an initiation by me and to be supported by me hence the round table is aimed at coming up with useful ideas that will help promote peace in the state. This is not a political gathering but an intervention for religious leaders to physically and spiritually help in finding peace.
” Kaduna town and environs, Zaria, Kafanchan and environs have had its share of crisis, and that is what this initiative is aimed at addressing because Kaduna state occupies an important place in the demography of Nigeria.

” Today, Kaduna state has been divided on religious grounds with River Kaduna being the dividing line. While the Christians reside in Sabo and Television, the Muslims live in Rigasa andTudun Wada, it has never been so years back.
” After violence comes curfew and normalcy but that does not equals peace, hence this forum when constituted will take the message of peace to the grass roots, identify individuals contributing to peace.
” This initiative will also be launched in other states like Plateau, Benue. Gombe, Niger, Kogi and across other troubled states” he stressed.
Speakers at the inaugural meeting all agreed that the need for peace cannot be overemphasized while commending the Senator for such a brilliant initiative.
They all agreed that living in peace with one another regardless of religious differences is a must for an healthy society.
One of the Muslim cleric Imam Adamu Abdulameen informed that Islam is against killing of innocent people while Rev Dr. Tafida Solomon of the Salvation Baptist Church Television also harps on how unsubstantiated rumour has been an escalating factor in most crisis in the state.

At the end of the round table, members to handle the Inter-Religious and ethnic peace round table for the state was constituted with members drawn from both Christians and Muslim faith.
