The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, disclosed on Sunday that not less than 21 villagers were killed in Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State.

He stated that the villager were murdered between last week Thursday and Friday.

The senator stated this to our sources’ correspondent in Minna, the capital of Niger State after rounding off his campaign for reelection in the area.

The situation in some parts of Niger and Zamfara states, with Birnin Gwari is really worrisome and sad as people are being massacred in cold blood daily.

He also made it clear that the Army nor the police have made any confirmation of the recent incidents.

There was really a sad incident when some mourners heading to bury their loved ones were attacked by the bandits at the gravesite, abducting some of the mourners and moved to an unknown destinations, the senator narrated.

“Most of the time, I have had to pay ransom for the release of some of my kidnapped coordinators, and it is totally unfortunate,” he stated.

I am sad that I cannot go to Birnin Gwari through Kaduna axis, but have to take a longer route through Suleja to Minna to Kagara before reaching the town, for most people have deserted the affected areas and wondered whether elections would hold in some parts of Birnin Gwari and some areas in Zamfara State.

On the other hand, the Kaduna State Police Command denied the claim that not less than 21 villagers were murdered with a time frame of two days in Birnin Gwari.

DSP Yakubu Sabo, who is the Kaduna State police spokesman, said that the claim by Sani was untrue.

There is no way for such a thing to happen without the police knowing of it, the police chief said.
