2019: Supreme Court bars APC candidates from participating in Rivers State Election

The Supreme Court has ruled against the court of appeal which freed the All Progressives Congress to field candidates in Rivers State in the coming general elections.

In a decision that was made today, the court stated that the appellate court did not invoke important parts of the law in voiding the decision of the Federal High Court barring the party from participating in elections in the state.

The decision of the high court was challenged by a faction of the APC in the state at the Court of Appeal.

The court questioned on how and why the appeal court reached its ruling and set the decision aside while upholding the ruling of the high court.

With the current judgement, APC Rivers State candidates will not be participating in the February 16th National Assembly election alongside the governorship and state House of Assembly elections on March 2nd.
